Privacy Policy Weather Social Effective: July 18, 2025 Platform: iOS and Android

Weather Social is a weather app that lets you view current conditions for any city and create shareable weather cards. This policy explains in plain language what data the app accesses, how it is used, and what it never does. We keep this short because the answer is genuinely simple: your data stays on your device.

1. Information We Collect

Weather Social accesses two categories of information to function:

• Your device's location: used once per session to identify your city and fetch the local weather. This is only accessed when the app is open and only with your explicit permission. Location data is never stored on any server or transmitted to us.

• City search queries: when you search for a city by name, the search term is sent to the Open-Meteo Geocoding API to return matching city results. We do not log, store, or track what you search for.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifier. The app does not require an account and has no login.

2. How We Use Your Information

The information described above is used for exactly one purpose each:

• Location is used to determine which city's weather to load automatically when you open the app.

• Search queries are used to return a list of matching cities for you to choose from.

Neither is used for advertising, profiling, analytics, or any other secondary purpose.

3. Data Storage and Retention

All data generated by your use of the app, including your saved favourite cities, your share card preferences, your display settings, and your last-known location, is stored locally on your device only, using your device's standard local storage.

We do not operate any servers that store user data. We do not transmit your preferences or history anywhere. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data immediately.

4. Sharing Your Weather Cards

The app lets you create and export weather cards as images. When you choose to share an image to Instagram, your camera roll, or your clipboard, you are initiating that action yourself. The image is generated locally on your device and shared through your device's native sharing system.

We have no access to the images you create or where you choose to share them.

5. Third-Party Services

Weather Social uses the following third-party services to provide weather data and city search. These services receive only the minimum data needed to respond, either your coordinates or your search query, and operate under their own privacy policies.

• Open-Meteo: provides weather forecasts and air quality data based on your coordinates. Open-source and free to use. open-meteo.com

• Open-Meteo Geocoding: converts city name searches into geographic coordinates. No account or API key is required.

We do not use any advertising networks, analytics SDKs, crash reporting tools, or social media trackers.

6. Device Permissions

The app requests the following device permissions:

• Location (While Using App): to load weather for your current city automatically. You can deny this permission and use city search instead.

• Photo Library / Storage (optional): to save generated weather card images to your camera roll. Only requested at the moment you choose to save an image.

All permissions can be revoked at any time in your device's system settings.

7. Children's Privacy

Weather Social does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because the app collects no personal data, it is safe to use regardless of age. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this app in a way not described here, please contact us.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the revised version will be published at this URL with an updated effective date. We will not reduce your privacy protections under this policy without providing clear notice. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
